During my eight grade year I didn't know that my mom applied me for foothill. Sadly I got accepted. The reason I don't want to go here is because I knew it was going to be hard, Then I realized it was my sister fault that I'm here. All because my sister didn't get in her freshman year, my mom wanted me to go just so my sister can go too. Whenever I tried to discuss going to foothill with my mom, she would never really listen to me. So no matter what I said, it didn't matter. "You are going to foothill and that's the end of it." Is what my mom would tell me. But it wasn't the end of it for me, I wouldn't give up, no matter how long it took I would convince her. Eventually I gave up and accepted that I was going or now, staying at foothill. I didn't really care what high school I went to. Buena or Ventura, it didn't matter, but I would prefer Buena for their AMAZING baseball program, anything but foothill.
My middle school counselor told my mom to sign me up and gave her the papers to apply. The papers were due the day before, but she turned it in the same day she got them. I didn't think she would actually do it, but she did. "Does she hate me?" I would think to myself often. When my mom showed me the packet that I got in, I tried to throw it away when she wasn't looking, but she found it. I never thought of myself as a smart person, so I didn't think I would do good at foothill, I always got good grades and all but I never really cared about school, it was boring, They don't teach us how to write checks, pay bills, do taxes, or buy a house, but hey, at least I know how to find the diameter of a circle. all I wanted to do was produce music, and make beats. But what do I know I'm just a dumb teenager. I want to get into a good college, but to play baseball, not to sit in a room all day doing homework, so I realized that the only way that I will be prepared for college is if I went to foothill. I told myself that I will do the best I possibly can these next four years.
I was nervous on the first day but it turned out to be really fun. My FIRE mentors were nice, and I got help finding my classes. There were a lot of my friends that I didn't know were going to foothill that were there. Most of my classes were fun, and the teachers are really nice. I realized that there were a lot less students than Buena or Ventura, and it wasn't as crowded, there wasn't gum all over the floor, the people were nice and didn't try to throw me in the trash can like I imagined my first day of high school. The orientation was fun, but they acted like we were going into the third grade or something.
Foothill for me now I better than I thought it was going to be. The classes are great especially Mr. Geib’s class. My teachers help me a lot when I don't understand something.
Remember when I said "does my mom hate me?" The answer to that is no she doesn't. She did it for my future and so I can achieve my goals in life. I am thankful for my mom putting me into this school, and I do not regret going to foothill, It was a good decision for me to go here.
